The Quick Edit tool allows you to update the encyclopedia directly. The facilities within COOL:Gen allow for limited updating. By using the Update API, Quick Edit enables you to carry out more extensive updating while maintaining the integrity of your COOL:Gen model.
Quick Edit allows:
- Rapid changes to models - no checkout required
- Updates to Names, Descriptions and non-system critical Properties
- Global find and replace
- Spell checking to ensure descriptions are correctly spelled
- Management of the proliferation of window prompts
- Model consistency protected
Large-scale changes that would otherwise entail the definition and downloading of subsets can instead be carried out directly with Quick Edit - saving you considerable time and effort.
Consider the example of reviewing object usages. When prompts are defined, they are downloaded in every subset. In one client's situation, this meant that 16,000 prompts were being downloaded in every subset that included a window. Quick Edit showed that only 1,400 of those prompts were ever used, enabling the user to delete the prompts in the CSE and saving the user a week's worth of effort.
