The WalkEncy tool gives the user an "under the covers" look at how schema objects are linked together within a given model. While WalkEncy is an excellent 'tech' debugging tool , it can also be quite handy in helping users understand the interaction between COOL:Gen components by comparing decomposed schema objects side by side with the corresponding COOL:Gen diagrams. The tool is also invaluable in the formatting of reports (docspecs) for ObjectWare's IEFReporter.

WalkEncy provides an intuitive, hierarchical view of the composition of a model via the COOL:Gen provided application programmer interface (API). Using the Sterling provided interface insures that WalkEncy, like all other ObjectWare tools, will consistently remain current with new releases of COOL:Gen.

WalkEncy provides 'point and click' access to models, platforms and all object types in the COOL:Gen schema, named (e.g. a Highest Level Analysis Entity Type) or unnamed (e.g., a CASE OF statement in an action block). Additionally, objects can be displayed with, and/or located by, object identification number. Dependent objects are displayed (if they exist), indented below the parent object by double clicking on the parent object line. The listing is contracted by double clicking on the parent again. Object typecodes are prefixed with '1' to indicate objects or '2' to indicate associations.
